Not sure what your movie tastes are but I recent saw 'Murder Party' (sort of dark comedy) and 'The Signal' (sort of fucked up technological apocalypic violent but amusing movie) and would recommend both.

Music - The Streets album 'Everything is Borrowed'.

Books: Watchmen by Alan Moore, get there before the movie comes out.

Music: Fleet Foxes by Fleet Foxes, Big Calm by Morcheeba.

Movies: Alien original trilogy.

the first and last are PERFECT winter music, the middle took a few days to grow on me. it has since grown inside of me.

Also, if you haven't listened to Blackalicious... you should.

I second Water for Elephants, World War Z, and Life of Pi.
I also like Time Traveler's Wife, Persepolis, and Blindness.

If you like Muppets, the third season of Muppet Show is pretty awesome
