flagstaff  this weekend was a complete blast.

drove up on friday night with doyle and mandy explored the haunted hotel and cursed rene russo.

saturday morning we had a delicious breakfast at la bellavia. followed by walking around town and exploring crystal shops.

afternoon- we headed over to the applesauce teas house (which i thought was a fantastic venue for a slam) and hung out while people showed up and registered and what have you. then open mic, which was fun. i read 'poem for a postman' and 'i once fucked a man' (which is far less vulgar than it sounds.)

the bouts were really great denver and abq. killed it in their bout and tucson was surprisingly able to hold their own.

the second bout was equally entertaining, only to be topped by christopher lane's music choices.

doyle fucking killed her poem, read like i had never seen her read before.

and i have a big ol' poem crush on ken arkind. "so paint me a picture, pretty?" i mean c'mon.

the rest of the night is kind of a blur partying with people in the hotel lobby, dance offs and silly stories.

when we got kicked out we moved up stairs where there was more nonsense and freestyling over someone playing harmonica. chesko was a champ all night. brent was in my grill all night. shaun was half asleep all night. but i love them all, even though they dead bolted me out of our room and went to sleep forcing me to crash elsewhere.

breakfast was equally good. tasty food at the place and a fun talk between valley people and ABQ people about how we as collective think slam should be.

Chesko and i rode home is style, first the HYPHY mix and then his mix of pop that would make anyone else shake their heads in shame.

overall, awesome weekend. i really needed to get away and remember why i love slam so much.
